Edit titles individually
Top  Previous  Next

You can edit titles in every title collection or want list. Almost every table field can be edited- there are only a few exceptions.

Edit individual fields directly in the table:

Some fields can not be edited, such as the file name or the file size or the running length of a title. But you can alter the path of a title location ( if it has been moved), you can edit all title information as well as the rating values of each title.

The simplest way to edit a field, is to klick into it and edit the entry.

In some cases you will be prompted ( i.e artist or album fields) if you really want to add this new entry. In other cases you must keep in the right format ( ie. year( 4 digits-no letters), bpm etc.)

G If you are editing fields in a column- this column should not be sorted!

Why ?
Exaple.: You have quite a lot of empty artist fields in your database and want to change this.If you now sort the artist column in order to have all empty artist fields at the top, and then you enter the first artist name, the list will be resorted and the display jumps to the new position of this title. This means, that you always have to scroll back to the empty fields in order to get back to work. That can really get on your nerves!
You can avoid this by either copying all those titles with empty artist field into a new list- which then hopefully is a lot smaller and easier to work in or sort another column rather than the one you are working in or cancel the sorting by pressing the sortierung aufheben-button!

Edit fields in the editors mask:

editlinie

If your have to edit lots of different fields the Moodmixer has an efficient editors mask to do so: Via the Icon bearbmaske ( (edit selected titles) the editor opens.

If beforehand no title has been selected, all titles can be edited in the editor. If you have marked several titles, only those can be edited. You can step through the titles in the same sequence you used to select them.

titleeditor

As in most tagging software, you find all title information in this editor that can also be read in the ID3 v1 and ID3 v2 Tag.
If you have set the tagging in the program settings these edited tags will not only be stored in the database but also ( on demand: select titles- [right mouse click into empty left column- write Tags] or select tagico) written back to the file.
In addition you will have all other information on the title displayed as well and you can rate/profile the title as well !

F Tipp: Very often you find all relevant information in the filename ( see above: encircled red)- you can copy and paste theese infos into the relevant fields- saves some writing !

The upper block displays file name and size , date of creation, date the file was put into your library, the date of the latest change of this data record and last date of change of soundfile because of tagging, as well as the last played date- if the file has been in a playlist that is date dependant or streaming.

The actual title editing is to be done in the middle and lower block.
If an artist/album or composer already exists in the database- you can find it in the drop down list. If you enter a new name into these fields you have to confirm this new entry:

G Do not leave the title editor after the last editing of a field without clicking into another field ! Always leave the edited field before you close the editor window- because otherwise the last endited field will not be updated in the database!

G Attention : The actual length of a title has to be entered in seconds ! The display calculates the minutes by itself !

The lower left is where one can adjust the rating values of your criteria:

rateineditor

At the very bottom one can navigate through the selected titles:

The middle displays the amount of selected titles( right ) and the title's position( left number).

amounttitlesineditor

If you double click this middle space and enter a search string ( the search is conducted in the title field).......
searchineditor

...... and then click somewhere into the editor mask, the editor jumps to the next matching title:

blurfound

With the small arrows one moves one title ahead vorwärtsor backwards zurück or to the last letzteror the firstersterof all marked titles. Via the clef note you can listen to the title with your WinAmp 2.xx.
