How to get started- Quick start

The Moodmixer doesn't need much work.
Even without doing all the work on the database, the Moodmixer can already produce varied playlists.

But : the more complete ID-Tags are, the more complete your title profiling becomes- the more you can define the selection process and the playlists will bcome a lot closer to your needs ( moods) Je vollständiger jedoch die Titel bewertet werden, je mehr Daten die einzelnen ID-Tags besitzen, desto besser kann die Musikauswahl eingegrenzt und das Abspiel genauer definiert werden.

The Moodmixer's principle is based on refinement.
All titles that are being scanned into your library will be allocated the preference value of 5 by default. So at the beginning each title will be played with the same frequency. As soon as you give it a new preference value higher than 5 it will be played at a higher frequency if you allocate a lower value it will be played less often.

The tempo of each song can either be entered as BPM, but you can also use one of the personalized criteria for tempo adjustment and thus profile your songs accordingly ( for somme a fast song may be felt slower than for others)

This is the quickest way to start :

·   Scan titles into library with the first program start you will be prompted immediately to check all locations where Moodmixer might find syour sound files. Please remeber that files that are located in a network have to mount a network drive with a special letter assigned in your windows explorer first for Moodmixer to display these locations!

FBy default all titles will be given a middle-rating of 5 for all criteria when scanned into the library. So they can be played even without the user to have rated one.

·   Define personalized criteria in the program settings and also set directories for playlists, backups etc. Simply choose the [ratings] folder in t he program settings settingsicon and define your five categories. The first category has to reflect to preference value the others can be chosen absoulutely free.
·   Set up a title pool ( Want-list or title collection)
Want list: Start a kombined search or a search for ratings, name the search and press ok (this search result will be displayed as want list in the Moodmixer-Explorer and saved)
Title collection: select as many titles from the "all songs with soundfiles" list ( selecting a title is by clicking onto the left grey column) enter a new name for the collection and press the in liste eintragenIcon - then these titles will be entered into this collection. If this is too much work at the beginning simply use the whole "all songs with soundfiles" list - nbut beware if this list is huge(> 1000 Titel) the title selection process can take a bit longer!

·   Start rating at least your preferences ( rating value 1-10)- This is fairly simple: just select a few titles in a want list or title collection, then either press the RIGHT mouse button onto the left grey column in the list and select [change song ratings] or select the iconrate3 and the rating dialog will open. You can activate as many categories as you want to rate at once by clicking on to them and then rate them by entering the desired value( 10 = best, 1=worst, 0 won't be played unless you change program settings)

·   define purpose of playlist for this you have three options:
The Playlistgenerator playicon can either produce play lists saved as as m3u for a certain amount of hours (and play it immediately if you like) Or schedule a play list for a certain time+date, then it will be sent to winamp by the Moodmixer-Mixer when it's due.
Or you start the MoodmixerMixer mmmixer right away- the Mixer produces non-stop play according to your settings.
·   let Moodmixer compile playlist
In the generator simplyselect a want list or collection as basis and set the sliders and Restrictions and filters and press the OK-button- the playlist will be produced.
In the Moodmixer-Mixer you have to do exactly the same, but to start the selection process you have to click the mixneu icon to start a new mix!

All additional steps can but needn't be made. This depends how much the resulting playlists should depend on these data:

·   Profile all titles with your personalised criteria for moods, age, tempo, energy value, etc. ( a listerner of classical music eill possdibly have different rating categories than a pop listener)
·   complete ID-Tags
·   Try querys from separate or combined criteria , save these lists and produce new Playlists from them.
·   Collect titles via conducted searches or by hand - save them as collection and produce even more Playlists
·Produce numbered burner copies of a playlist and press them on CD or send them to your mp3player.
